AWARD WINNER!! A HUGE congratulation to Jason Goldfield, our assistive technology teacher here at the Florida Outreach Center for the Blind. He just won the 2024 Michael Phillps Award for technology teacher of the year! (PHOTO OF HIM RECEIVING THE NEWS!)

The award is given each year by the Florida Alliance for Assistive Services and Technology (FAAST) in Tallahassee, which has been serving the blind and disabled in Florida for 30 years with providing much needed help (FREE) with technology. Visit their site to learn more: https://faast.org/

Blind since birth, Jason’s commitment and dedication in teaching our FOCB students for 18 years has been remarkable. His invaluable work enables others to become more independent, learning to use their computers, phones, laptops, and all devices…with all of the latest technology, APPS, programs, etc. Jason’s important work ensures that individuals who are blind or visually impaired continue to have greater opportunities for full inclusivity and accessibility.

The AWARD is named after Michael Phillips, a pioneer in the field of technology who was known for his ability to educate and inspire others. It celebrates individuals who have followed in his footsteps and are making a difference in the lives of people with disabilities through significant contributions towards promoting the use of A.T. in Florida and/or making A.T. more accessible to those who use it.

CONGRATS TO YOU, JASON! IT IS WELL-DESERVED! 💥
